ATLANTIC OCEAN

It is the second largest ocean after the Pacific Ocean.

It crosses the entire Earth from North to South, connecting Europe and Africa with America.

Like the Pacific Ocean, it has a great peculiar feature: the Atlantic Ridge composed of a long series of underwater mountains parallel to the continents, which emerge in several volcanic islands such as the Azores.

LET'S GET TO KNOW IT BETTER

The Atlantic Ocean with its volcanic islands, presents unique landscapes, some of these islands

have still active volcanoes while others are in continuous adjustment.

What is certain is that they host an amazing and unique marine life: they are places of passage

for the migrations of the largest animals in the world.

Not only on the islands, however, can we encounter enormous animals but also in the "union zones" such as South Africa and South America.

Thanks to the explosive meeting of different masses of water, one of the most precious and wild marine life in existence is created.

A friendly fins who wants to visit an island of the Atlantic ridge and/or the most remote "union" zones on
Earth, must be ready to encounter sharks of all types (white shark, tiger shark, mako shark, blue shark...), giant manta rays,

cetaceans such as fin whales, sperm whales, killer whales and dolphins...

It is a complete visit to the paradise of large marine animals!

And for friendly fin divers, snorkelers and adventurers there is only one watchword… be WILD!

DIVING
AND
SNORKELING

Snorkeling

The Atlantic Ocean is so wide that it is difficult to give a guideline because we go from the rough and dark waters of South Africa, to the Azores, to the warm waters of the Caribbean.

One thing is certain though:

we are spoiled for choice! Snorkeling allows us to encounter the strangest animals and the most extreme situations, just say SARDIN RUN!

Diving

The dives are just as varied, so I will tell you about my experience. Among the most exciting dives of my life I remember those done in the Atlantic Ocean:

Diving in the kelp forest in South Africa with a visibility of 5 m between spotted sevengill sharks, sea lions and a high risk of sighting the white shark.

Diving in front of the beach of Playa del Carmen, Mexico. My first dives after the very fresh first degree certification, a few meters from the shore we saw really everything at 15 m depth, from the seahorse, to the giant green moray eel to the ray resting on the sand. A Friendly Fins show!

Since every sea is different and there is no one more beautiful than another, we can expect everything when we put our heads under water...

MIGRATIONS

The Atlantic Ocean is a huge corridor for migratory species, capable of traveling thousands and thousands of kilometers to reproduce or feed.

Migration is a fascinating phenomenon influenced by a variety of environmental factors such as lunar and seasonal cycles.

A friendly fin visiting the Atlantic Ocean is spoiled for choice on the destinations to choose, each
destination will hide a special period to spot very rare migratory animals such as whale sharks,
sea turtles, eels, sea birds...

The Atlantic Ocean is not only cold and stormy water, it also has a delightful tropical corner called the Caribbean Sea.

Spiaggia Tropicale dei Caraibi

CARIBBEAN SEA

With its mosaic of islands and their coral reefs, it is a place rich in biodiversity where you can have very special encounters:

snorkeling with sailfish and whale sharks in Mexico, witnessing turtles spawning in Costa Rica, or a crazy swim with the pigs at Pig Beach in the Bahamas!

In short Friendly Fins, the world is beautiful because it is varied!
